From the time that I'm able to remember him, my uncle Tom was always a food lover. He was always a fat guy where I can recall.

His wife, Aunt Matilda was always asking him to control his intake of food. Matilda would always cook well balanced meals, in fact she never cooks foods that are fried and only rarely does she cook processed foods, red meat or every other foods that aren't usually recommended by dieticians.  Tom’s wife rarely prepared desserts and she refrained from acquiring packets of biscuits and also other foods which were high in sugar content.

However Tom always had a craze for sweets and he always declared that no meal is complete without dessert. Because of this, Tom took a habit of travelling to the supermarket to obtain sweets, or any other “missing” items that his wife would not usually buy. In accordance with my auntie, her husband has the bad habit of eating a packet of biscuits in a single go. You never know what Tom eats at the office, surely he will never eat a salad meal while on the job and you never know the quantity of fizzy drinks and chocolates does he buy during office hours.

His doctor told him several times that he ought to shed weight immediately, but these tips did not have a great deal of effect. Tom is very stubborn naturally and as his wife or family and friends tell him he needs to lose weight, he usually does the reverse in order to imply to them his disapproval. It's quite unfortunate that his daughter and son proved to own the exact crave for sweets, not surprisingly I have to admit.

A few weeks ago, uncle Tom was informed that he has diabetes type 2. After the doctor explained what the symptoms of type 2 diabetes might be, my uncle was shocked.

The doctor was of the opinion that it was vital to obtain a glucose meter. He told my uncle that a glucose meter may also be obtained without charge by registering with certain websites. How can uncle Tom live without his beloved biscuits, cakes and desserts I have no idea!

My uncle appears to be still floored by the words of the doctor. While he has started to restrain his intake of sweets and sugared foods, Tom got desperate and is not the cheerful person as I always remembered him. As Tom still has to obtain glucose testing kit I though that I could help.

I filled every detail of uncle Tom on the form provided and registered to get a free glucometer. There is not very much which i are capable of doing for my uncle, but perhaps this can help a small bit. Wish that uncle Tom shall soon obtain free glucose meter.
